- Me: You spelled that wrong. It's not theater, it's theatre.
- Person: whats does it matter?
- Me: well THEATER is a large mega dome complex usually sponsored by some stupid company that makes way too much money and it has disgusting plastic seats and a cold air and dirty large screens or a barren black stage covered in old amps and wires where people who I hate gather to either rock out or talk over movies other people are trying to watch and who sit next to you or in front of you completely blocking your view when there are clearly more unwelcoming seats on the other side of the theater...... THEATRE is a golden room full of red velvety cushion chairs. The walls are lined with box seats which over look the glossy stage and are encrusted with golden designs from French artists. The grand curtain cascades on to the mahogany stage like a waterfall, hiding the buzz of emotion from the actors behind it. The lighting in the grand palace seems to make everything glow with crystals and reflect rainbows of sparkles, even the smiling people that enter seem to gleam either from the glowing light or from pure excitement for the performance they are about to see. These passionate people sit in the fluffy seats with a sparkle in their eyes knowing exactly where they want to be and what they want to do, right on that glossy stage, because the people already on that stage have the same look in their eyes. There is a connection in the theatre between the actors and audience members who are all very different but have the same mind set and full happy heart because of the theatre. There is some unspoken freindship between everyone with a playbill in their hand, and smiles and anxious whispers are shared all around. Not once does someone grimance when a new person walks through the door. Everyone is family and everyone is home...... That is the difference between THEATER and THEATRE.
